Royal Brackla was founded in 1812 by Captain William Fraser, and in 1835 became one of the first, and now rare, distilleries to earn a Royal Warrant, enabling it to call itself “Royal”. The distillery draws its water from the Cawdor Burn and the Cursack springs on the estate—hence the “Cawdor Springs” labelling found on certain independent casks. Known for a light-fruited, clean and elegant spirit character, Royal Brackla’s output is increasingly prized by independent bottlers and enthusiasts looking for premium Highland malt. The whisky is drawn from the site known as Royal Brackla Distillery (labelled “Cawdor Springs” for the water source) on the Cawdor Estate near Nairn in the Highlands of Scotland.
