Whisky distilleries across Scotland vary hugely in style, tradition, and the types of casks they mature their spirit in. The cask itself is responsible for 60–80% of a whisky’s final flavour, so different distilleries are known for favouring certain types: ex-bourbon, sherry, wine, or more unusual finishes.
