Cask Description
A 2023 red wine barrique filled with Kirkcowan (Bladnoch) single malt spirit. The use of red wine barrique — rather than standard bourbon wood — gives this cask a differentiated profile: vivid fruit influence, potentially colour impact, and an alternative maturation trajectory. As an early-vintage 2023 fill, this cask offers the buyer long-term maturation potential, whether for bottling in the future or retaining as part of a diversified portfolio.

• Red berry and dark fruit notes (from the wine wood).
• Light malt and cereal sweetness.
• Subtle oak from the barrique, gentle tannin structure.
• Clean Lowland core spirit characted.
• Smooth texture with room to develop over time.

Red wine barriques are increasingly desirable as they offer something different from the mainstream bourbon or refill hogshead stock. For buyers seeking young but interesting casks with potential, this 2023 Kirkcowan red wine barrique provides an alternative route into Lowland single malt investment. Given the relatively young age and alternative wood type, the price expectations should reflect both potential and early stage maturation.

Kirkcowan is the private-cask spirit produced at Bladnoch Distillery in the Lowlands of Scotland. The spirit is unpeated, light and clean, making it well suited to alternative cask types. A red wine barrique provides an interesting maturation environment that adds fruit-led influence and complexity at an early stage.

• Private buyers building a younger-age portfolio.
• Independent bottlers looking for alternative cask styles.
• Collectors wanting variety alongside more traditional bourbon or cherry matured stock.
• Buyers comfortable with longer-term maturation.

• Price excludes duty, VAT and future bottling costs.
• Cask stored under bond in Scotland.
• Ownership transfers to buyer.
• No licence required for UK residents to hold a cask.
• Full documentation available on request.

FAQ & Purchase Information

What happens after I pay my deposit

If you are new to cask ownership, we make this step seamless. You will receive a short application form —return it with your ID documents, and we will personally submit and manage the process on your behalf, keeping you updated at every stage.

Upon confirmation of your warehouse account:

• Transfer the remaining balance
• Receive your Delivery Order for signature
• We submit the documentation to the bonded warehouse the same day, initiating transfer of ownership

Once purchased, we do not keep casks in our name—not even at your request. Your asset should always remain in your control.

In-Bond refers to goods—such as whisky and wine—stored in a bonded warehouse where excise duties and VAT are suspended until the products are taken out for sale, consumption, or export.
